What is a Best Buddies Friendship?

Best Buddies is a one – to – one friendship between your son/daughter
(The Buddy) and his/her Peer Buddy.

The friendship will grow when your son/daughter and his/her Peer Buddy spend time together and do things that they both enjoy.

For the friendship to grow your son/daughter will have contact (phone/e-mail/letter…) with their Peer Buddy once a week, and make plans to meet twice a month.

What do Buddies do when they meet?

Activities for buddies are endless, we have included a list of things they can do, but this list is not limited.

How does Best Buddies make the right match?

The programme tries to match people who are the same sex, like to do the same things, live near each other, and are close in age.

How do Best Buddies find Peer Buddies?

Best Buddies are linking with a number of secondary schools and colleges in the area.

How long will it take for a match to be made?

Sorry to say, there is no way to know. We want to make successful matches, which lead to quality friendships. We will do our best to match as many people as possible in as short a time as possible.

How often should buddies meet?

Best Buddies asks buddies to see each other twice a month. How long they spend with each other and when they meet will depend on each person’s schedule.

Who pays for expenses when they go out?

Like any friendship, each person pays for himself or herself.

What if your son/daughter does not hear from their Peer Buddy for more than two weeks?

Give us a call, there may be a problem, or their peer buddy may be away.

We hope this is of some use to you; any queries don’t hesitate in contacting us.
